State of the Manuscript 04/23/2025

Welcome to my monthly update on the state of my project manuscripts. This is where I provide general status updates about my work.

My debut novel, Magic & Murder in the Holler, is currently with a proofreader to get some final notes on the book, and hopefully find any typos or errors in the manuscript. The cover designer I'm working with will be starting to work on my cover before the end of the month, which is exciting. I've also done some "boring" behind-the-scenes tasks to publish the book, like figuring out pricing and distribution, and getting some technical things out of the way. All important, necessary things, but not exciting to talk about.

In more exciting news, I've passed the halfway point in terms of writing the sequel to Magic & Murder in the Holler. If I keep at my current pace, I'll finish this first draft within the first two weeks of May. The story is a little more ambitious in terms of scale, which has been a fun challenge for me. I haven't announced the title of the book yet, but I already know what it will be.

I don't know what project I'll be working on after I finish the sequel manuscript. I'm torn between pursuing two vastly different ideas I have, and starting a second draft of the supernatural heist short story I wrote in February. I'm leaning towards writing a novella about mermaids at the moment.
